Lena, it took us 3.5 hrs up to the mountain but I think we were quite slow. The nights can get a bit chilly so I'd advise to bring a sweater.
Reservations can be made through Thai Department of National Parks www.dnp.go.th.
I haven't tried the train service, check for timetable of the Northeastern line at www.railway.co.th. Going by bus might be the better (faster and almost direct) choice, check at Bangkok's Northern bus terminal Morchit.
Can't remember the porter fee, sorry.
When are you planning to go? Some sources state the park is closed from June to October due to rain... I did the trail in October and it was all fine. Keep us posted here, thanks,

Enjoy your trip... :)

hi there, would like to know approximately how long it takes on average to get up to the mountain. and does it mean we got to take warm clothings as well?
can u by any chance give a direct contact for us to book and make necessary arrangements as per what u wrote above.
how much does the porter service charged?
Also to take train, how long will i take from bangkok?
Thanks and sorry for the many questions

Hello Amit,
I think you should check Pahurat Market (ตลาดพาหุรัด). You might also try Pratunam Market (open every day), plus of course there's Chatuchak Market, the largest weekend market.

Hope that helps. Good luck.

Hi,
actually I've been to an outdoor restaurant right at Chaophraya River a while ago. It was right underneath one of the bridges downstream from Saphan Taksin. I'm not sure where exactly it was coz I was taken there by a friend, but I'll see if I can find out for you. Unfortunately you didn't leave your email address so I guess you have to stay tuned. :-)

Cheers

Hi:
Fantastic refernces we can use on our next trip in Sep.
My wife and I (both 63) will be staying in Krung Thornburi not far from Saphan Taksin Bridge. Never been this way. Can you recommend where we can stroll to on the Krung Thornburi side and get good inexpensive,Thai food for breakfast and dinner, without having to cross the bridge?
Are there many more and better low cost choices across the bridge near the BTS station?
An email reply would be appreciated

Thanks
